At Barnt Green there were people setting up for Barnt Green Fun Run, it was obviously the finish line and noticed the time said midday on the poster... 'ah good I won't run into any of them then' thinks I... wrong! about 5 miles later I found myself dawdling down a road behind loads of runners... and then they turned left down the road where I was heading nooooo!! Decided not to turn left and rerouted onto a B road, it wasn't too bad - not much traffic.
As I got closer to the Cobhouse the Malverns appeared in the distance over my left shoulder.
Arrived at the Cobhouse at mile 35ish, as it was sunny I was expecting it to be packed and I wasn't wrong, I breifly joined the end of the longish queue to find the person infront of me took the last empty tray so I gave up and decided to just eat my banana and cashew butter sarnie instead. after eating half of it I looked through the window to find the queue had vanished so headed back inside. Found 1 empty tray had been put out so nabbed it. (come on staff chop chop!!) There was home baked apple pie and some flan thing in the chilled cabinet but learning from previous experience (stale home cooked cakes) I opted for a slice of lardy cake in a celophane packet - turned out to be delish!
Left the Cobhouse and headed to Worcester with the Malverns in the distance over my right shoulder, there is a pretty little offroady bit along the way into Worcester. As I crossed over Worcester bridge a number of boats from Worcester Sailing club were on the water.
At around 3.45 I arrived at Churchfields and decided to try their ice cream, as expected the place was rammed with parents and kids. I could see the queue out the door in the main building however, in the garden they had an ice cream van that had no queue at all! I almost chose the cherry and marshmallow flavour but couldn't resist cookie and ice cream flavour - turned out to be an excellent choice and one of the best ice creams I have ever had yum!
Big signs not long after I left Churchfields, ROAD CLOSED... we'll see about that, luckily I found I could dismount and weave my way through - diverting would have meant returning from whence I came and woulda been a massive pain in the ass.
From 4 onwards the afternoon sun became a bit intense for me and could have done with disappearing for a bit, or maybe this lazy cow shoulda dragged her ass outta bed earlier? 😳
Rolled in at 7pm, 76 miles covered.
