Ye Olde Yew Tree Route, Cake, Chocolate, Ice Cream... and poor signage...

After a week and half of illness (boooo!) Thursday 30th March found myself and Bob on Ye Olde Yew Tree Route - One of our oldest routes we used to regularly take plus I had noted a new Chocolate shop recently opened there...

At 9 am it was raining so we delayed the start time a little, I met up with Bob at 10.45, the rain had stopped and the sky was dull... it was hard to have faith in the forcast being sunshine and 17 deg a few hours later...

Turned out the forcast was right! In the 2 hours that followed it gradually got brighter and warmer yippee!

At the Cafe I had an eccles cake and Bob had Coffee cake, it turned out to be one of the best eccles cakes I have ever had! A full 10/10!!

After the cafe we decided to have a look inside the new chocolate shop (Henley Choclates - www.henleychocolates.co.uk) that had recently opened there, plenty of choice of chocolate flavours to choose from and well... would have been rude not to do a taste test so we had a mini bar of choc each. Upon leaving the Shop we had a discussion on how poorly designed the shop front/signage was, (tiny unnoticeable signs!) we had rode past it going to the cafe and Bob hadn't spotted it, I only clocked it because I was carefully looking... but anyway... I had Raspberry Lemonade and Bob had Stem Ginger - I fear we shall be frequenting there quite a lot in future,,, yummy! :o)

At the weather turned out so nice (Bryton displayed 19 deg C at one point) we stopped for ice cream  at Earlswood on the way back, 2 raspberry ripples please!

Spring is coming... (about time too!)

It's Thursday which means it's ride day yippeee!!

Woke up at 8am this morning, looked out of the window to see dull grey sky and blustery gusts of wind blowing the tops of the trees opposite... decided to spend an extra hour in bed and do a shorter ride than originally planned...

However, by the time I did go out (at 11am) the wind had subsided and the day was looking brighter by the minute... I started embarking on a 35 mile ride (Ye Olde Yew Tree route) but the day turned out so nice I extended to the Alcester route... 45 miles covered - hurrah! :)

No cake stop today as was riding solo.

Today's fuel:
SIS Blueberry Go Bar
Approx 5 jelly babies
1 litre weak blackcurrant SIS Go electrolyte / water mix.

Saved the banana in my back pocket for a recovery peanut butter and banana sarnie upon my return.

I have recently joined a 'Look at my bike leaning against stuff' group on Facebook so took the opportunity to photograph my bike against the Purity Brewery sign that I've rode past millions of times.

All in all, a lovely day for a ride and felt like the first signs of Spring is in the air.
